At Earth-Based Rovers (EBR) we’re passionate about addressing the serious problems the world is facing today due to the proliferation of invasive species, herbicide resistance, and herbicide toxicity. Our mission is to empower gardeners with technology to automate garden tasks and identify potential problems, providing actionable insights via a mobile application.
Introducing Mobi-Robi
Mobi-Robi is an autonomous garden rover coupled with a powerful mobile application. Offload tasks like weeding while simultaneously receiving data about the health of your garden.
Mobi-Robi quietly traverses your lawn or garden and offloads your mundane gardening tasks, leaving you to do the things that you truly enjoy, and to help your garden reach its full potential.
As Mobi-Robi moves around the garden performing tasks it also takes detailed scans of its surroundings. This enables Mobi-Robi to evaluate the health of your garden, alerting you to conditions that require your attention.
Mobi-Robi will initially be available in two sizes. The standard sized rover is sized for a large yard, while the smaller unit is designed move efficiently within a garden bed.
Intelligent Garden Rover
AI-based weed detection enables a highly effective way to identify, mechanically remove the weed, and/or apply UV-C radiation to eradicate it while minimally impacting the surrounding plants. Detection and analysis will continually improve as we grow a comprehensive weed database, enabled by a network of crowdsourcing where those who opt-in can share weed and invasive species information to improve the data set.
Say NO to Toxicity And Weed Resistance
Herbicide toxicity is a very serious and growing concern. Glyphosate, for example, is a commonly used herbicide that is readily available at the local store and used heavily in residential areas. It has been a registered pesticide since 1974 and has been reviewed for safety and use by the EPA every 15 years since [1]. This year (2023), however a California court awarded $332 Million to a man who claimed that his cancer was the result of the use of Monsanto’s Roundup [2]. As if this were not enough, the utility of Glyphosate is diminishing as glyphosate-resistant weed species continue to emerge. In 2017, 38 weed species had developed a resistance to glyphosate, and now that number has grown to be greater than 50 species [3].
